“5 IMPORTANT ADDS” THAT WILL HELP STRENGTHEN YOUR PET’S IMMUNE SYSTEM!

Let me throw out some scary yet very true facts.

Over 74 BILLION pounds of toxic cancer-causing chemicals are dumped into the environment each day in the USA alone. - U.S. Environmental Protection Agency

In 2008, the average Joe walked around with at least 212 different chemicals swirling around in their body. - CDC

When the Environmental Working Group tested pets in 2008, dogs and cats tested positive for 48 out of 70 industrial chemicals.

In 2014, the average human urinates 7 different pesticides a day. – Dr. David Jockers

In a first-of-its-kind study, researchers looked for the presence of toxic chemicals in umbilical cord blood of 10 newborn babies born in U.S. hospitals in August and September 2004. Of the more than 400 chemicals tested for, 287 were detected in umbilical cord blood. Of these, 180 cause cancer in humans or animals, 217 are toxic to the brain or nervous system, and 208 cause birth defects or abnormal development in animals. - Environmental Working Group and Commonweal.

Today, in the 21st century, we are experiencing a disease epidemic. We are the sickest we have ever been and toxins play a major role in this.

So today, more than ever, I am doing my best to protect my pets against diseases and toxins by creating the ultimate bulletproof jacket for their immune systems.

HOW I AM BUILDING THOSE JACKETS?

With herbal supplements and medicinal foods! Let me introduce you, if you are not already familiar, to 5 supplements I use to help create this super “immune system protecting shield”:

1) ASTRAGALUS –

This herb is a member of the pea family (which also gives it the look and smell of pea flour when ground). Astralagus has been used for thousands of years in both Chinese and Ayurvedic medicine. This herb greatly enhances your pet’s immune system, while punching cancer in the face at the same time! It also helps strengthen the lungs, liver, heart, kidneys, thyroid and digestive tract.

“Similar to Echinacea, astragalus boosts immunity by increasing the levels of certain types of immune cells that fight pathogenic invaders. These include macrophages and natural killer cells; the former goes around "consuming" microbial enemies, while the latter attacks and destroys viruses and cancer cells.” –NaturalNews.com

For years, animal herbalists have used it for conditions such as respiratory problems (kennel cough), viral infections, inflammation, diarrhea, prolapse of the uterus or anus and even loss of appetite. But I use to strengthen my dogs’ bodies by stimulating their killer-cell activity and raising their white blood cell counts. At the same time, astragalus boosts the body’s defenses through its liver strengthening attributes! Stimulate your pet’s liver, and it will help you zap out all the toxins built up in their bodies.

Herbalist Gregory Tilford recommends using an astragalus extract and, depending on the problem, you can use up to 10 drops of the extract per 10 pounds of body weight up to twice daily. However, for more serious problems, always consult your Holistic Vet first.

2) MILK THISTLE -

One of the most ancient and influential herbs on this planet, milk thistle has been used for over 2,000 years and it is known as one of the most powerful detoxifiers in the world.

The liver, one of the most important organs in the body, is responsible for filtering all the garbage out of your pet’s system. That same liver is working overtime to combat all the toxins I mentioned above. When the liver function is compromised, so is the immune system!

Here is where Milk thistle comes into the picture! Why? Because it helps to detox all that garbage.

“New research has shown that silibinin, the active constituent in milk thistle extract, can help reduce inflammation in the gut as well as halting the development and replication of bowel cancer cells.” - American Association for Cancer Research (AACR)

In terms of dosage, use ¼ of a teaspoon per 20lbs of body weight.

“Milk thistle should not be used as a daily food supplement. Milk thistle is a medicine that is best reserved for situations in which the liver is already under abnormal stress.” Most holistic doctors feel that milk thistle should be administered for 3-6 weeks with a 1-3 week break.” - Gregory L. Tilford and Mary L. Wulff

3) TURMERIC ROOT –

This is the most thoroughly researched herb in existence today! Turmeric and the component inside called curcumin, turns the entire drug-based medical model on its head by possessing hundreds of potential benefits. It has been observed to positively moderate over 160 different physiological pathways in the mammalian body.

So what does it do for the immune system? Turmeric is known as an adaptogen which triggers apoptosis and will provide immune system support.

What the heck is apoptosis?

“Apoptosis is the normal, natural, genetically programmed body process commonly known as ‘cell suicide’ — and it is critical to health.
Unfortunately, the genes that govern apoptosis sometimes get “switched off.” When that happens, these cells can live longer than their genes originally intended them to. This lack of normal apoptosis can have negative impacts on the health of our dogs.” – Dr. Damian Dressler, aka the Dog Cancer Doctor

An insufficient amount of apoptosis results in uncontrolled cell proliferation, such as cancer!

Turmeric has naturally occurring molecules that can support apoptosis when introduced into the body of your pet. Adding 1/4 tsp. per 10 pounds of body weight to your pet’s diet will not only help stop cancer from knocking at their door but it will also aid in strengthening their immune system!

4) Red Clover –

Remember those little red flowers growing in grass fields? Well, who knew they were actually good for you?

Red clover contains therapeutic isoflavones and, in addition to its phytoestrogens, red clover is a valuable source of calcium, chromium, magnesium, niacin, phosphorus, potassium, thiamine, and vitamin C.

Among other benefits, red clover helps with blood cleansing. It’s a tonic, antispasmodic, antitumor and helps strengthen a weakened immune system.

“Red clover has a history of use for cancer treatment due to its ability to stimulate the immune system. Other recent research has found evidence that it may prevent the growth of cancer cells or kill cancer cells in test tubes.” –NaturalNews.com

According to Gregory Tilford: “When properly used, red clover is a safe herb, but, as is true for many plants, its use does demand some attention and respect. Red clover contains estrogenic isoflavone constituents so a little can go a long way.”

It can be used externally and internally. When added to an animal’s daily diet as a preventative measure, you can give a pinch of dried red clover to a dog, a tinier pinch to a cat, and a handful to a horse.

5) Medicinal Mushrooms –

Mushrooms such as reishi, maitake, chaga, turkey tail, lion's mane, cordyceps and shiitake contain natural polysaccharides (simple sugars) and the most important polysaccharides for those suffering from cancer are called beta-glucans.

According to the cancer doctor, Dr. Demian Dressler, “Beta-glucans have a wide variety of effects in the body. Beta-glucans can bind to the outside of natural killer cells and other immune system cells, responsible for destroying cancers, and help ‘turn them on’ and increase their activity. Beta-glucans may also be able to increase overall white blood cell activity in the body.”

So mushrooms don’t kill cancer, but they can boost the immune system and help the body fight against it!

And there you have it folks! 5 powerful additions to any dog or cat’s diet!

With a broken immune system, your pet will suffer many problems such as allergies, yeast infections and diseases like cancer! Therefore by feeding the immune system, you’re helping to strengthen this protective shield and ensuring a longer healthier life for your fur babies.

As the saying goes: As above, so below.
